Posted on January 11, 2017 by Webfor Being active in the community is important to Webfor’s founder, Kevin Getch. He recently spoke on the Portland Today Show about his involvement with two non-profit organizations, SEMpdx and Reading Results. Kevin is President of SEMpdx, one of the first non-profits in the U.S. established to support the digital marketing community. Each year SEMpdx chooses a charity to support. Board members donate time, digital marketing expertise and resources. Support includes pro-bono work, a free booth at Engage, an annual digital marketing conference, and matching donations of members up to $5,000. The SEMpdx 2017 Charity of Choice is Reading Results, a local non-profit that tutors low-income students who are struggling to read at grade level. “Choosing them as the Charity of Choice was an easy decision as education is at the heart of what our organization is about,” said Kevin. With early intervention, Reading Results hopes to prevent students from falling behind at school. When students struggle to read at grade level, it can have a long-lasting negative impact on the child’s education and self-esteem. If you’d like to support Reading Results, donate at their website or join us at Lagunitas Brewery from 5:30 – 9 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017.
