Posted on August 25, 2014 by Jason Wright So you’re not convinced video marketing is right for you, are you? What if I told you that 75% of users will visit your website after viewing a video? While video production is a daunting task, the right company can simplify the process and deliver a nicely packaged final product. Before you begin, you should consult with a marketing team that can assess the value of video marketing and production with your industry. This multimedia format doesn’t exist for you to simply create testimonial videos or the standard “about us” or introductory short. Think outside the box regarding how you can use video in marketing campaigns, landing pages, service pages and more to help increase leads and boost your conversion rate. STILL NOT CONVINCED? HERE ARE 5 REASONS YOU SHOULD BE DOING VIDEO MARKETING 1) People Spend Hours Watching Video Content Do you know that 72 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute? Not all of them are cat videos, mind you. There is a thriving community of businesses that publish content to their YouTube channels. This activity helps increase viewership and ultimately visits from the second largest search engine in the world. Even more eye opening is that 50% of users will watch business-related videos at least once a week. And that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Critics may say that video marketing doesn’t increase your bottom line, drive leads or interest. Sure, if you invest in terrible ideas and production quality, this could be true. You don’t need the perfect content, but it should be pretty darn good. After all this is your baby, I mean business (I mean baby) we’re talking about here! The same care you put into running your company should be carried over to your various marketing campaigns. 2) Your Competitors Are Doing It… Or Will Be Soon Getting someone to choose your business over another is an age-old challenge. In order to persuade others to pursue your services, you will need to communicate your branding and values, customer service, and incentives using cutting-edge methods. Just because you don’t think your competitors are doing anything with video marketing right now, doesn’t mean they aren’t actively pursuing that channel. According to a poll by Forbes, 59% of executives would rather watch a video than read through a wall of text. It doesn’t matter what industry you’re in, there are always creative ways you can engage with your audience. Often times we think too seriously about how we represent ourselves online when, at the end of the day, we’re all human and we respond to material in different ways. If ridiculous and over the top video advertising didn’t work, do you think they’d still do it? The fact is, you might be influenced to buy a Red Bull because their ad made you feel good. 3) Get Found In The Top Two Search Engines Google and YouTube (owned by Google) are the two most used search engines in the world. Any real consultant will tell you that the more marketing channels you can dive into, the more likely you are to increase your bottom line. This includes EVERYTHING, from social media and local optimization to video production and content writing. Four billion hours of video are consumed each month. Let me type that out…four billion = 4,000,000,000. That’s incredible! Insane! And mind boggling to think people have that much time on their hands……I digress…. Whether or not you’re aware of it, all of this is happening as we speak. So, what are you waiting for? Get a YouTube channel going, create a series of goals and get started with your video marketing campaign. 4) Increase Brand Awareness Nobody is immune to commercial jingles. If you watch or have watched television, chances are you’ve seen many of the same commercials over and over and over again. You could probably hum the McDonalds theme right now or some of the old school Coke or Pepsi tunes and because you’ve heard them year after year, they’re stuck in your head forever. While the surface goal is to get you to buy a given company’s product, the purpose of commercial advertising is to plant a seed that resonates for practically all eternity. In addition, because that seed is planted, you have become part of their overall brand awareness strategy. Brand awareness, though hard to measure, is very powerful. Website visitors are 64% more likely to purchase products or services via online after watching a video. Use this to your advantage. Create a consistent campaign that carries a similar theme and you will be well on your way to establishing a strong video marketing campaign. 5) Connect With Your Audience This might sound like the least exciting out of the five, but it’s one of the most important reasons for engaging in video marketing. You could create videos all day long that talk about your plumbing or photography service, and that’s okay, but how can you promote those same things without “selling” them? What am I talking about you ask? I’m sure you have a favorite movie. Can you pinpoint the reasons why you like that move? You might say you enjoy the characters, action or story, but realize each of those things trigger an emotional response from you. If you can understand that emotions drive actions, then you can begin to use that to your advantage. Example: Industry: Cable Deck Railing Service: Installation Video Title: Improving Quality of Life Video Description: A short 1-2 minute video describing how a minor change to a deck or staircase can improve the quality of someones life. How? Perhaps a war veteran or an elderly person is confined to a wheelchair and their second story deck was installed with a concrete barrier or wall instead of a rail. This means, the individual wouldn’t be able to see over the wall and take in the scenery around them. You include shots of a tear down and installation of deck railing which includes an unveiling to the owner who can now see far beyond their own deck. Chances are, is that this example is eliciting an emotional response from you, and that’s the goal. Taking something “blah” and turning it into “aww” is your objective. Examples like these don’t have to be made up. You can easily create discounts, provide free installation or more in return of the owners permission to film the process. Again, think outside the box!
