So, it makes sense that you should do everything in your power to understand your customer inside and out, determine what they want and make sure you’re delivering it. What is an “Ideal Customer Profile”? An Ideal Customer Profile is a portrait of a fictitious customer that represents one of your most desired customers. To get started, think about your customer base and select a few of them that best match your target audience.. They could be someone who you love working with or maybe one of your most profitable customers. When you are creating an Ideal Customer Profile you will give each one a name, sex, age, marital status, make them a homeowner or renter, etc. Fill out as much demographic information as possible and use real customer data if that creates a better or more realistic impression of your audience. Some additional components you should consider are psychographic factors like lifestyle and media traits. Here are a few sample questions you might ask depending on your client/industry: What kind of TV shows do they watch? What are their favorite websites or news sources? Are they tech savvy internet users? Do they have any political affiliations? Do they like to travel? Are they big sports fans or do they prefer art galleries? What makes them smile? What stores do they shop at? Finally, ask yourself, what are your customers’ biggest concerns? The goal of an Ideal Customer Profile is to provide a “true north” for everyone in your organization. If you really know your customer and what they want you’ll be ahead of 90% of your competition. Let us know in the comments below if you have any questions
